The foundation and main purpose of
Weights and Stuff is to promote longevity of performance and health.
Performance can refer to a large variety of things, from athletics to strength
sports (e.g. powerlifting, strong man, and bodybuilding) to general health and
wellness. It is the mission of Weights and Stuff to provide you with the
knowledge and tools to help prolong your experience competing and participating
in your preferred activities. Using principles of physical therapy in
combination with those of strength and conditioning/performance training, I
hope to bridge the gap between the two worlds of training and rehabilitation.
As we get older and continue to train
and strive to perform better, we will all hit speed bumps that slow us down. We
get aches and pains, and if we are very unlucky, injuries. Weights and Stuff
aims to be there to help prevent many of these problems before they can occur.
No one likes to stop and take time off, much less have to start back at square
one after an injury.
As Weights and Stuff grows I hope to
provide you with the best possible knowledge, programming, and guidance to help
you along this path. Performance, breaking personal records, and reaching goals
are all amazing things that we strive to accomplish. While there are
appropriate times to push through and set that PR, there are also times to
throttle back. Remember, it’s a marathon, not a sprint. Let’s hit some PR’s and
reach some goals together.
